This article is a brief overview of different methods to assess learning outcomes while using e-Learning technologies. The article also discusses ways for the Instructional Design to be developed to ensure these learning outcomes are successful. The article discusses topics of communication between instructor and student, such as feedback and integrity within the course. The article provides a small bit of information on many topics to get the reader to begin thinking and possibly researching what they may need to be successful in an E-Learning setting.

This source seems to be reliable as it provides many resources for e-Learning. The author is the CEO of an e-Learning software company, which leads me to believe he has done plenty of research and trials on the success of e-Learning and measuring and assessing learning outcomes. As I mentioned, this is an excellent source for getting an idea of how to manage assessment through an e-Learning setting and be a starting point for research. It could be useful for teachers, professionals, or managers looking for more ways to ensure that their technologies are benefiting the learner.

Microlearning Related to Instructional Design

This study reviews the effects of microlearning in learning through cognitive, behavioral, and affective outcomes. The findings were largely in favor of using microlearning as a tool in instructional design. The findings were that microlearning improved retention, engagement, and motivation with learners as they move through instruction. These results came from using microlearning in a thoughtfully designed environment, taking into account the learner’s preferences, environment, capabilities, and subject matter. 

This is a reliable resource based on research. This study could be useful to anyone still unsure of the affects of microlearning. This resource could be useful to help someone understand all parts of microlearning and how to include it in instructional design in a useful way. This resource includes big picture ideas and microlearning details that can be helpful to developing a plan to include microlearning in course design or training modules.

Trends in E-Learning

This article discusses the expansion of e-learning, specifically since the pandemic. The article reports on the great expansion of e-learning offerings, while discussing how plans are to be made for expanding broadband capabilities and reaching audiences without the technology to participate in e-learning. As e-learning becomes more standard practice, technology capabilities will need to advance in order to accommodate. The article offers suggestions for microlearning opportunities to serve populations that may not have access to e-learning necessities such as regular internet and WiFi.
