This study reviews the effects of microlearning in learning through cognitive, behavioral, and affective outcomes. The findings were largely in favor of using microlearning as a tool in instructional design. The findings were that microlearning improved retention, engagement, and motivation with learners as they move through instruction. These results came from using microlearning in a thoughtfully designed environment, taking into account the learner’s preferences, environment, capabilities, and subject matter.
This is a reliable resource based on research. This study could be useful to anyone still unsure of the affects of microlearning. This resource could be useful to help someone understand all parts of microlearning and how to include it in instructional design in a useful way. This resource includes big picture ideas and microlearning details that can be helpful to developing a plan to include microlearning in course design or training modules.
